UPDATED: THR has it that Nicola Peltz has also checked into “Bates Motel,” set to Bradley Kenner, a girl Norman (Freddie Highmore) takes a liking to at school who’s described as bright and effortlessly sexy with a depth that makes her seem older than she really is.

Now that we know Freddie Highmore will be manning the counter of “Bates Motel” for A&E, Norman Bates is now eyeing potential victims…

Deadline has it that British cutie Olivia Cooke (shown right) has just earned a role on “Bates Motel.” Word is she’ll play the eccentric and extremely bright Emma, who has a disease that could take her life early and gives her a sense of adventure and that time is of the essence.

As you know, the great Vera Farmiga (below) assumes the role of mama Norma Bates, and with Highmore and Cooke’s addition, a clear international bent is being fostered in the show. I’m sure it’s simply a case of best man or woman for the job, we’ll have to wait until next year sometime to see if these casting decisions are wise ones. First impression has me pumped though, how about you?

“Bates Motel” will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.
