Alien: Covenant scores $42 mil Opening Weekend Overseas

Even though Ridley Scott's new ALIEN prequel ALIEN: COVENANT doesn't open here in the US until May 19th, it seems like every god*amn person I know has seen the flick already somehow and I fear I will be sitting my happy-ass alone-as-f*ck in the theater this Friday night.

The reviews have been mixed, to say the least. Just take a look at these tweets from our own Paul Shirey and Eric Walkuski:

Now take a look at our own Jake Dee's 9/10 review. Crazy differences in opinion, right? But I guess that's what makes great flicks; the ability to split an audience. But whatever, everyone in my circle could call the flick a steaming pile of AVP and I still be sitting in the theater like THIS come Friday night.

Anyhow, ALIEN: COVENANT just opened in 34 markets around the world (I know, f*ck us, right?) and scored the #1 position in 19 of those markets. Overall the film gathered an overseas total of $42 million this past weekend.

Here a full rundown: Korea $7.2M), UK ($6.4M), France ($4.5M), Australia ($3.1M), Mexico ($2.5M), Spain ($1.9M), Hong Kong ($1.8M) and Italy ($1.3M). Also, there were 157 IMAX screens totaling $2.1M in 28 markets.

The film hits us here in the US this Friday. To celebrate I have gathered NEW ALIEN SHITE, including a funny graph on the life-cycle of a xenomorph, along with two new international posters (one meh, the other badass), and finally, a new featurette for the film highlight director Ridley Scott.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

ALIEN: COVENANT stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, James Franco, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby.

ALIEN COVENANT hits theaters May 19th.

Noomi Rapace > Katherine Waterston. Just sayin'.

Extra Tidbit: Have YOU seen ALIEN: COVENANT yet? Of course, you have. Dammit.
