American Psycho musical is coming to the U.S.

The musical version of AMERICAN PSYCHO that slayed the U.K. is coming to the U.S. It has just been announced off-Broadway company Second Stage Theatre will bring the bloody tale of homicidal yuppie Patrick Bateman to Times Square early next year.

Duncan Sheik wrote the music, while Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (CARRIE) handled the book. Former “Doctor Who” Matt Smith played the Bateman role in England, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be tackling it in the states. Evidently there will be tweaks made to the show as it makes its transition here.

The musical, like the book and subsequent 2000 screen adaptation, follows 26-year-old Patrick Bateman, a handsome investment banker with a gorgeous girlfriend and a penchant for murder.

AMERICAN PSYCHO will begin previews at Second Stage’s West 43rd Street theater in February, with a March opening to follow.
