An American version of the brilliant British sci-fi anthology series "Black Mirror" is in the works, according to Variety.

The new co-CEO’s and co-chairmen of Endemol Shine North America, Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin, confirmed that “there is a plan” for a U.S. adaptation of the buzzed about U.K. series.  While they are not a lot of details on the proposed U.S. version of the show at this point, Corwin continued to say that "Black Mirror" scribe Charlie Brooker (DEAD SET) has “really touched on something and I agree – we need more.

"Black Mirror" is a British television anthology series created by Charlie Brooker that shows the dark side of life and technology. Regarding the show's content and structure, Brooker noted, "each episode has a different cast, a different setting, even a different reality. But they're all about the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes' time if we're clumsy."

If you have Netflix and haven't already checked out "Black Mirror" then you should spend your weekend checking this mind-bending and intelligent series. It's very much like a twisted sci-fi "Twilight Zone", and after the highly shocking first episode (my jaw literally hit the floor!) I can guarantee you'll want to see more.

With the heat that “Black Mirror” generated simply from word of mouth on Netflix, a U.S. version was all but inevitable. Creator Brooker has previously said he would be the showrunner on any U.S. series rendition. Equally as interesting, Robert Downey Jr.’s Team Downey banner optioned the feature film rights to the “Black Mirror” episode “The Entire History of You” in 2013, so we could very well be seeing that one coming our way soon enough.

More on the U.S. version of "Black Mirror" as we hear it.
