An ex-con exacts revenge on a small town in Phedon Papamichael’s Ruthless

Phedon Papamichael (pictured), who has been the Director of Photography of films as THE DESCENDANTS, IDES OF MARCH, 3:10 TO YUMA, and WALK THE LINE, is attached to direct RUTHLESS, a gritty suspense thriller from screenwriter Cooper Layne, who also wrote THE FOG remake and THE CORE. Those movies aren’t very good, they were also gaudy studio pictures; perhaps this is an original idea close to Layne’s heart.

RUTHLESS follows an ex-con who was recently released from prison and settles in a small town in Louisiana. He begins to torment and exact revenge on the locals who impacted his past.

“This is the kind of material that actors and directors dream about. I am very excited for the opportunity to direct this film,” Papamichael said.

The film will be shooting in Louisiana, although “when” is unclear. We’ll keep an eye on RUTHLESS’ progress.
