Angelina Jolie in talks to play a small role in Scott/McCarthy’s The Counselor

If it sticks, THE COUNSELOR has just lassoed a mighty fine client!

After learning in February Michael Fassbender would indeed reunite with Ridley Scott to film THE COUNSELOR, the Cormac McCarthy script has attracted some Oscar winning talent. Jeremy Renner and Natalie Portman not only have a rumored-attachment, Vulture reports that Ridley Scott is in talks with Angelina Jolie to take a small role in the film as well.

As you know, Angie is putting her heart into MALEFICENT next, though it won’t hit until March 2014. With Scott intent on shooting THE COUNSELOR this June, Angie may have enough time to indulge the Englishman with an extended cameo. Let’s hope so anyway!

Set the contemporary Southwest, The protagonist in The Counselor is a respected lawyer (Fassbender) who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.

THE COUNSELOR and OUT OF THE FURNACE are the two borderline AITH films I have great faith in. The former marks Cormac McCarthy’s debut screenplay, with Ridley Scott directing…the latter, directed by Scott Cooper, is said to be directly influenced by the Texas post-stylist. Bottom line, expect the level of violence to be kicked up a few notches in each film.

More on each as news kicks up…
