Barry Pepper joins Alex Aja & Sam Raimi’s Crawl

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Recently it was announced that horror director supremes Alexandre Aja (THE HILLS HAVE EYES, HIGH TENSION) and Sam Raimi (DRAG ME TO HELL, THE EVIL DEAD) were teaming up on a new horror flick called CRAWL starring Kaya Scodelario (MAZE RUNNER, one of those PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films).

Raimi will be producing CRAWL, which Aja will be directing from a script initially written by Shawn Rasmussen and Michael Rasmussen. Aja has done his own rewrite as the project heads toward production. The film will be about

a young woman who, while struggling to save her father during a Category 5 hurricane, finds herself trapped inside a flooding house and fighting for her life against Florida's most savage and feared predators.

And today we have word via THR on just who will be playing the father mentioned in the above synopsis. Yes, none other than Barry Pepper (aka the sniper from SAVING PRIVATE RYAN) has joined the movie.

I like Pepper and all but at this point, the movie could have cast Dane Cook as the father and Miley Cyrus as the daughter and with Aja and Raimi behind the scenes, I'd still be there ready to see alligators eat some annoying ass. This is a much better cast than the one I jokingly laid out above, so hopefully, that means there's nothing stopping this flick from getting Aja back on course in the horror genre!
