Vengeance Johnnie To

By now you should need exactly zero people to tell you just how good Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales’ BIG BAD WOLVES is because you should have seen that shit already. Well, it looks like the deadly tandem is getting back together for their first Hollywood studio project that will see them take on the remake of the 2009 Hong Kong-French thriller VENGEANCE, reports Deadline. You couldn’t have asked for a better duo to bring the Johnnie To-directed thriller back to life, if you ask me.

Good films—whether they’re remakes or not—start with whoever is behind the camera, so I think most people can appreciate Sony’s choice on this one. If you’re going to remake a film like VENGEANCE, this is a pretty damn good start. But who knows, it could end up being a total dumpster fire for all I know. Time will tell, folks!

In the original film:

A French chef swears revenge after a violent attack on his daughter’s family in Hong Kong, during which her husband and two children are murdered. To help him find the killers, he hires three local hitmen working for the mafia.

Sony Pictures has acquired the underlying material and hired the duo for a film that Matt Tolmach will produce with Michele & Laurent Petin. Latter are the original rights holders and producers. We’ll keep you guys up to date on this one as we get it!
