God of War: Ascension Preview

God of War Ascension is coming for the PS3! I’m a huge fan of the series and absolutely loved the last game. In fact, I love the whole series.

Anyway, Sony revealed the game a little while ago and had this to say about the game’s story: “God of War: Ascension is a prequel that will show Kratos’ emotional path of redemption, while detailing the rise of his rage to break free from Ares’ bond. Six months after being tricked into killing his wife and child, a younger Kratos is sentenced to a life of madness with the Furies, caged in a titan sized prison for the living damned. Fighting insanity, his will is tested to the limit as he seeks to break his bond and gain the clarity to seek revenge on Ares for his part in the death of his family. Armed with double-chained blades, Kratos must take on mythology’s darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest for redemption”

So this is how Kratos came to be Kratos? This sounds really awesome. I know that all I really needed to say was “Hey, new God of War”, but I like to give you people that much more. more detail is expected next month at E3.

New Survival Horror from RE Creator

Speaking of new games, Sinji Mikami is returning to the Survival Horror franchise! Who’s that, you ask? Well, he’s the original Resident Evil creator! You can check out the game’s website via his studio Tango Gameworks here.

We know that the game is codenamed Zwei, and the picture is a collage that demonstrates the tone and direction of the game. Mikami claims to have “found his focus” and is “striving for pure survival horror”, so it should be awfully interesting to see what’s coming down the pike for this one. I look forward to it.

Halo Live Action Series Announced!

This technically isn’t directly about a new game, but if you love Halo, you’ll love this. It’s true that the movie is dead for now, but Halo 4: Forward until dawn was just announced. What’s that you ask? Why, it’s a 5 part video series coming to Machinima and Halo Waypoint before the game eventually releases in November.

This is a live action thing, which is super cool. The idea is to bring people up to speed with Halo 4’s plot and naturally deals with Master Chief and 343 Industries director of franchise business development Matt McCloskey says this is “not just a marketing piece.” This is good to hear- live action Halo is way too cool to pass up, so we’ll have to stay tuned for that.

Pricey RE6 Platinum Edition

A little while ago, Capcom’s team released the information about the Platinum Edition of Resident Evil 6. Want to know what’s in it? Yes you do, because there’s lots. This ain’t your grandma’s Platinum Edition (do Grandmas have Platinum Editions?).

First of all, you get the game, and you also get 4 phone cases- one for Chris, one for Leon and one for Jake..and a mystery case!

The killer here is that there’s a full size friggin’ replica jacket, just like the one Leon wears! It comes in four sizes and is made from real leather!

The yuck thing about it all is that it’s only available in Capcom’s Japanese eStore and costs almost 1300 dollars (¥100,000). If you’re excited about it though you best get on it- there are only 5000 available. Still though, awesome collectible if you have scratch burning through your pocket!

Indie Anna Promises to Adapt to Your Fears

Finally, I’d like to touch on Anna, a little indie game from developer Dreampainters. I haven’t gotten a chance to play it, but it’s coming soon and thought it had a badass trailer. From what I understand by reading the dev’s blog, it’s based in Italy and loaded with creepy elements.

It may seem like pretty typical stuff, but the trailer reveals that your character is being watched by someone or some-thing, and it knows what you’re afraid of, capitalizing on it at just the right moments. The trailer can be a little rough around the edges, but shows off some cool environments that guarantee that you’ll be scared. Something will get your goat, Anna will notice, and react, because “Anna has a mind”. Check it out by reading Dreampainters’ blog here.

Keep your eyes peeled for more horror game news at it comes in!
