The Brazilian filmmaking duo of Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas, directors of the 2011 horror film HARD LABOR (or TRABALHAR CANSA in its native Portuguese), are back with the werewolf film GOOD MANNERS (a.k.a. AS BOAS MANEIRAS). Having made its New York premiere with a screening at the Museum of Modern Art back in April, GOOD MANNERS is now set to receive a New York theatrical release this Friday, July 27th, when it opens at the IFC Center NYC.
An L.A. theatrical release will follow next month, when the film reaches the Laemmle Royal Los Angeles on August 17th.
Described as "a thrilling and dark gothic fable with sharp social commentary", GOOD MANNERS mixes Disney with Jacques Tourneur to tell the following story:
Clara, a lonely nurse from the outskirts of São Paulo, is hired by mysterious and wealthy Ana to be the nanny of her soon to be born child. Against all odds, the two women develop a strong bond. But a fateful night marked by a full moon changes their plans.
