Bruce Campbell says new Evil Dead film will unleash the Deadites on a city

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

There's a new EVIL DEAD movie in the works, one which THE HOLE IN THE GROUND's Lee Cronin is set to write and direct, with EVIL DEAD rights holders Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert producing. Campbell has previously said that the title of the new film is EVIL DEAD RISE, and during a recent appearance at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Pennsylvania he teased out a little bit more information, telling fans in attendance,

The Evil Dead are going to f*ck up a city this time."

There have been rumors that Cronin would be moving away from the "cabin in the woods" setting of the original EVIL DEAD (watch it HERE) , EVIL DEAD II (watch it HERE), and the 2013 Fede Alvarez movie (watch that one HERE), specifically that EVIL DEAD RISE would be set in a high-rise office building. Campbell didn't say anything about a high-rise, but now we have confirmation that Cronin is indeed taking the Deadites into a city.

Episodes of Ash vs. Evil Dead had some action that took place in the streets of a town, but having the new film take place in a more densely populated area should be a fun way to set it apart from what came before.

We'll continue to keep you updated on EVIL DEAD RISE as we hear more details.
