Cas Anvar joins Lakeshore Entertainment's The Vatican Tapes

In late June we learned that Michael Pena had joined the previously announced Djimon Honsou, Dougray Scott, Kathleen Robertson, Peter Andersson, John Patrick Amedori, Alex Sparrow and Olivia Dudley for Lakeshore Entertainment's supernatural horror THE VATICAN TAPES, which is to be helmed by CRANK director Mark Neveldine. Today we have another name to add to the growing cast list.

Deadline is reporting that SOURCE CODE star Cas Anvar has signed on for the demonic possession tale, set to play the character of Dr. Fahti. No other details on the character are known at the time of this writing.

THE VATICAN TAPES follows the haunting tale of 27 year-old Angela Holmes (Dudley), who accidentally cuts her finger and ends up in the emergency room. Infection leads to erratic behavior, and she begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close, causing serious injury and death. Priests examine Holmes and believe she is possessed, but when the Vatican is called upon to exorcise the demon, the possession proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than they imagined.

Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing the pic alongside Chris Cowles, with Lionsgate planning a fall 2014 release.

Extra Tidbit: Do you think CRANK's Neveldine will be able to bring something fresh to the demonic possession subgenre, or should we expect more of the same?
