CBS’s BrainDead adds Johnny Ray Gill as an eccentric genius

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Johnny Ray Gill, who previously appeared on three episodes of the genre TV show True Blood, is the latest actor to join the cast of the television series BrainDead, which CBS is currently putting together for a summer 2016 premiere.

Created by Robert and Michelle King and produced by Ridley Scott, David Zucker, and Liz Glotzer, BrainDead

follows Laurel, a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer who gets her first job in Washington, D.C., and discovers two things: the government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers.

Gill's co-stars will include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Nikki James, and Aaron Tveit. His character is

Gustav, an intuitive, eccentric genius who is the first in D.C. to recognize that there may be alien spawn attacking the Capital. Gustav has a million conspiracy theories, but is occasionally totally right, which makes him Laurel’s (Winstead) valuable accomplice.

Honestly, the only cast member I'm familiar with so far is Winstead, but her being the lead and the very fun concept are already enough to make this show "must watch TV" in my book.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead
