Chainsaw/1000 Corpses-style film Betrothed coming in July

The distribution rights to director Jim Lane's BETROTHED, which is described as a sweat-inducing collision of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, have been picked up by Osiris Entertainment, with the company planning to release the film on VOD this July.

Scripted by Jeff D. Rosenberg, BETROTHED tells the following story:

A trip to the store turns into a surreal nightmare when a college student is kidnapped by a deranged, dysfunctional family. Now Audra West finds herself trapped in the middle of the desert, and betrothed to Adam, the youngest son of the murderous clan. As a determined detective conducts a frantic search, Audra realizes the only way to survive is to escape. But even if she could get away, almost two hundred miles of desert lies between her and help.

You can definitely see the TCM/HO1KC influence in that plot description, and maybe a bit of THE HILLS HAVE EYES as well. The iconic characters of those films are a tough act to follow and the trailer below makes its maniacs look more average than I would have expected, but there is some bloody chainsaw action in there.

BETROTHED stars Mikayla Gibson, Bill Oberst Jr, Trae Ireland, Omar Gooding, Reatha Grey, Joey Bell, David Brown, Elizabeth Castillo, Jamie B.Cline, Adam Dunnells, Nailya Shakirova, and Bunny Gibson.
