Character posters for Lars Von Trier’s The House that Jack Built are twisted

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Lars von Trier’s serial killer film THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and the response was heard around the world. Many took to Twitter saying things like “I’ve just walked out of #LarsVonTrier premiere at #Cannes2018 because seeing children being shot and killed is not art or entertainment” and “Just left Lars Von Trier’s The House that Jack Built. Gross. Pretentious. Vomitive. Torturous. Pathetic.”

And if you’re like me, all of this humbub put the film damn near the top of my must-see list. And if you’re like me then you’ll want to get ready for the film’s release by checking out six new character posters. They’re about as odd as you might expect from a Lars von Trier picture, so give them a look-see below and then let us know what you think!

Starring Matt Dillon, Uma Thurman, Bruno Ganz, Riley Keough, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, and Sofie Grabol, the film is set in the 1970s and told

from Jack’s point of view. He is a highly intelligent killer who has spent a decade perfecting the art of the perfect murder. But as the police begin to close in, he starts taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork.

IFC Films plans to release THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT later this year.
