Curse of Chucky will come out next Halloween; has the tagline been revealed?

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Below you’ll find a video of CHILD’S PLAY creator Don Mancini talking the history of the franchise and providing a little bit of info on the sixth entry into the series, CURSE OF CHUCKY, which just wrapped shooting in Canada. Video comes from the “Yo-Show” on Yahoo! I don’t know what that is.

In the video, Mancini discusses the inspirations for Chucky (Cabbage Patch dolls! Gremlins!) and dishes out a few morsels of fun trivia. (Did you know that Charles Lee Ray’s name was a combination of Charles Manson, James Earl Ray and Lee Harvey Oswald?)

Regarding CURSE OF CHUCKY, Mancini reveals that the film is going “back to its horror roots” and will be coming out Halloween 2013. In addition, we see a promo poster for the direct-to-DVD flick, and it provides two taglines: “Be afraid. Be very effing afraid,” and “Foul mouth. Foul temper.”

We probably shouldn’t put too much stock in this; Universal has about a year to work on the marketing material for CURSE OF CHUCKY, and it’s unlikely that these taglines (or the poster) will be utilized. For that matter, there’s no guarantee that it will hit on Halloween, but it’s still makes sense that it will get released at some point during October.

Stay tuned as more info comes in; in the meantime, get familiar with the flick’s plot:

Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.
