Dark Sky Films to distribute babysitter thriller Emelie

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There's something wrong with this new babysitter. She says her name is Anna, but it's really EMELIE, and as you can see in the image above she is definitely not a responsible caretaker. That image is really all I needed to be sold on this film, I have to see how that situation plays out.

Directed by Michael Thelin from a screenplay by Rich Herbeck, EMELIE claims to be "based on a true story" and has the following synopsis:

When their regular babysitter calls to say she’s unavailable, the Thompsons find a last minute replacement to look after their three kids Christopher, Sally and Jacob while they celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary. But no sooner have the unconcerned parents pulled out of the driveway than it becomes clear that Anna is no ordinary babysitter. As the evening creeps along the children begin to realise they might be in serious danger from the psychologically disturbed woman who has invaded their home.

Sarah Bolger, Chris Beetem, Susan Pourfar, Joshua Rush, Carly Adams, Carl Bailey, and Thomas Bair star.

An international trailer for the film can be seen below, and if all this intrigues you as much as does me, you'll be glad to know that MPI Media Group has picked up the distribution rights to EMELIE and will be releasing it through their Dark Sky Films label in early spring 2016.
