It's been a while since we heard any fresh news on the MAB Studios / Silent Studios Productions monster mash movie WITCHULA, but with a new casting announcement the project has just taken two big steps toward earning its description as "the EXPENDABLES of horror".

One of those big steps is hiring genre icon Dee Wallace to play the title character, a witch/vampire hybrid. Producer Matt Chassin had this to say about her casting:

Dee seems like the obvious choice for the Witchula role … After all she has been chased by cannibals in The Hills Have Eyes, she got turned into a werewolf in The Howling, has dealt with all kinds of aliens in ET: The Extraterrestrial and Critters, ghosts in The Frighteners, a renegade alligator in Alligator 2, and even a rabid dog in Cujo, so having this actress in a monster movie is a no-brainer."

Wallace is joined in the cast by Kane Hodder, Bill Oberst Jr., Eileen Deitz, Marilyn Ghigliotti, and fellow new addition Tyler Mane, whose credits include playing Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II. So now they have both a Myers and a Jason Voorhees on board.

Wallace and Mane have worked together before. In fact, he killed her in HALLOWEEN.

Written and directed by Marcus Bradford and Pat Kusnadi, WITCHULA has the following synopsis:

A group of college students travel to a small and remote town situated on an exotic island; only to discover they are being hunted down by a powerful witch-vampire “hybrid” that seeks something in their possession.

We'll keep you updated on this project as it continues to move toward production and assembles more horror EXPENDABLES.
