PRIMAL – February 12th

If you ask me, there aren’t enough killer big foot movies out there. Which is crazy, because the potential to make a big foot movie scary is fairly high, and there are cults of people out there who actually believe Sasquatch exists. But alas, once in a blue moon, a killer big foot movie hits, and sadly… most times, they suck. But PRIMAL, PRIMAL looks like a barrel of laughs and then some. Let’s hope it’s as bloody as the cover suggests…

The Goods:

    THE SICK HOUSE -March 18th

With a cover as freaky bizarre as this, what the hell do you really need to know about this movie? It stars Gina Philips, which is awesome cause she’s a f*ckin’ robobabe, and it has some chick with seriously dry skin and no lips. No lips? Can you believe it? Oh, and no eyes. Freaky, I tell you, freeeeeaaaaaaaakyyyyyy.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround

    30 DAYS OF NIGHT
    – February 26th

Vampires in Alaska. It’s a wonder this concept hadn’t been explored earlier. A shame this kinda ‘bombed’ at the box office, but no worries…. it will likely live a long and prosperous life on DVD, and eventually gain one of the bigger cult followings that we’ve seen in years. Even if the cover for the DVD is weaksauce compared to the theatrical posters, I can still dig it. I mean, people have to know this isn’t just some ordinary vampire flick, but one that stars Josh Hartnett. Ladies everywhere just swooned at his name, and wished they could rent this right now. See that? The power of marketing and a big name at work right there.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Commentary with Josh Hartnett, Melissa George and Producer Rob Tapert
  • Pre-Production Featurette
  • Building Barrow Featurette
  • The Look Featurette
  • Blood, Guts and the Nasty #@$&! Featurette
  • Stunts, The Vampire Featurette
  • Night Shoots Featurette
  • “Blood +” Episode 1 Featurette

    BLACK WATER – February 19th

Unlike big foot movies, there seems to be entirely too many killer crocodile movies out there. Which is bizarre, because when was the last time a crocodile movie was actually successful? Ten years ago LAKE PLACID rocked the big screen and received some mild attention and acclaim, but really… that was it. Then BAM! last year we were ‘treated’ to PRIMEVAL and this year’s ROGUE, and now, the highly anticipated yet generally unknown BLACK WATER… If you’re a fan of the sub-genre, then this should just about make you cream your shorts. And based on a true story, no less! Here’s a thought: what about a killer croc vs. a killer big foot movie? Now THERE’S some entertainment!

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Filmmakers’ commentary with directors Andrew Traucki and David Nerlich
  • Deleted scenes
  • Making of featurette
