JOY STICKS – October 31st

Ok, so it ain’t horror, but contains all those elements of classic 80s horror that we so dearly miss these days: gratuitous sex, big hair, daisy dukes and lots of nudity. And with a cover like this, why wouldn’t you want this apart of your collection? All I know is that I wish I was that arcade game right now… Though having two ‘joy sticks’ might be weird.

CHRISTMAS EVIL – November 14th

There’s something about Christmas horror movies that really yank my crank. Be it yule-tide fun of BLACK CHRISTMAS, or seeing Santa with an axe in SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, throw in a maniac in a Santa Clause outfit, and you have the makings of a good time! CHRISTMAS EVIL is no exception (it’s also been known as YOU BETTER WATCH OUT), as one plump and jolly psycho who loves everything Christmas goes on a rampage, trying to force that good ol’ Christmas cheer on everyone he meets. Hate Christmas? Look out- or this guy might axe ya! Can we say ‘most eagerly awaited DVD release of the holiday season’?

    SLAYER – November 21st

Casper Van Dien. Man, I used to like that dude when he was a STARSHIP TROOPER, but somewhere along the line (between all them steroids and beauty products) he’s decided to make his name known on the STD B-movie circuit. I guess it’s not a bad place to be, but when you start out with all that potential… well, it might make some people go hmmmm. I was initially excited for this flick, until I realized it wasn’t a biopic on the metal band SLAYER– then I was just plain disappointed. See, now that would have been an AWESOME movie! As this one’s from the director of VOODOO MOON, I wouldn’t hold my breathe….

    The Goods:

  • Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1), Enhanced for 16×9 Televisions
  • Audio commentary by Writer/Director Kevin VanHook and Star Casper Van Dien

    SPIRIT TRAP – December 19th

It’s almost like a cover straight out of the late 90s, but more haunted-house than slasher-flick horror. I like the skull clock, but the heads below… come on… Actually, that skull clock would look great on my mantle above the fireplace. I wonder if I could snag it off of Ebay?

THE WICKER MAN (remake) – December 19th

If you’re into pointless remakes, bad acting, silly dialog, a lost Nic Cage and horror so awful it’s comedic, then this P.O.S. is for you. Rent it out of curiosity… but don’t let anyone see you… or you may be ridiculed and humiliated for the rest of your life. No joke.

    The Goods:

    Theatrical Cut

  • Commentary by writer/director Neil LaBute, co-stars Leelee Sobieski and Kate Beahan, editor Joel Plotch and costume designer Lynette Meyer
  • Theatrical Trailer

    Honorable Mentions:

A DEAD CALLING – December 12th – Because it stars Bill Moseley! Other than that… it’s your average T’d off ghost story. Not that that’s not cool or anything, I’m just sayin’…

MURDER-SET-PIECES – January 7th – Because it was considered so gory that Kodak wouldn’t process the film. Say what you will about the movie, but that right there is hard core.

ED GEIN: THE BUTCHER OF PLAINFIELD – March 6th – Because it’s another movie on Ed Gein… let’s hope someday they’ll find a better cannibal serial killer to base movies off of- you know, for a change of pace.
