Elijah Wood lifts the blade and splatters blood in new Maniac stills

As Franck Khalfoun’s MANIAC redo works toward its May 26th midnight Cannes screening, a trio of official stills from the grisly slasher flick have been put out. As you can see, Elijah Wood is maniacally lifting the blade with zero qualms about wearing another person’s blood on his face. Not sure the same can be said for that other broad. Sheesh!

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

America Olivo (below), Nora Arnezeder, Sal Landi, Morgane Slemp, Liane Balaban, Sammi Rotibi, Megan Duffy, Jan Broberg, Akbar Kurtha, Genevieve Alexandra and Freedom all appear in the film.
