Exclusive: Don Coscarelli and the gang talk 4K Phantasm & Phantasm: Ravager!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The very first time I caught Don Coscarelli’s horror masterpiece was on television. Even then it scared the hell out of me. That image of a young boy waking up in the middle of a cemetery still freaks me out. My impressionable little mind was pretty convinced that it was really going to happen one dark and stormy night. Ever since then, the PHANTASM series has held a very special place in my heart. So with the release of PHANTASM: RAVAGER, I was thrilled to get the chance to talk to the original cast, as well as the man behind this imaginative series himself.

Talking to Coscarelli is always amazing. Don is one of the nicest guys around, and the respect and love he has for PHANTASM is addictive. During our chat we talked about taking a break from directing this series for the very first time, as well as the continued talk of a remake – how could anybody replace the great Angus Scrimm?

We also sat down with the original cast, all of whom return for RAVAGER. You can’t get any cooler than Reggie Bannister, who discussed playing “Reggie” once again. We also sat down with A. Michael Baldwin and the “Lady in Lavender” herself, Kathy Lester. The stories they shared will make every PHANTASM fan very happy. Out of all the interviews I’ve had the pleasure doing, I have to say that this was a truly special moment.

Finally, we talked shop with RAVAGER director David Hartman – the only filmmaker besides Coscarelli to enter the strange world of PHANTASM. While it may have been a daunting task, Mr. Hartman managed to make a film that fits right into the series. Are  you ready to once again face “The Tall Man?” Make sure you check out the spectacular 4K PHANTASM: REMASTERED and the latest installment, PHANTASM: RAVAGER, available today in theatres and On Demand!
