First image from Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, with Matthew McConaughey

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Anytime Christopher Nolan is involved with a project it immediately gets our attention…even moreso when he's directing! That's why we're stoked for his upcoming INTERSTELLAR, which stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, and Michael Caine, just to name a few. Details on this flick have been few and far between, but we've seen an intriguing teaser back in December and most recently brought you the newest poster for the flick earlier this week. We also know that the new trailer for INTERSTELLAR is set to be shown in front of GODZILLA next week, so stay tuned for that.

Today we have the first official image from INTERSTELLAR which debuted in EW and features star Matthew McConaughey tinkering with what looks like some sort of model spacecraft, watched by a pair of teenagers who look as though they might be his children. Check it out below.

Not too much to be gleaned from that, although production designer Nathan Crowley has given away a few tidbits to EW of info on some of the key plot themes.

According to Crowley, Christopher Nolan first brought him on board by asking…

"Do you want to do a movie about black holes, relativity, gravity, and their effect on time?"

However, if all of that sounds very grand-scale and impersonal, Crowley is quick to stress the importance of the more intimate aspects of the plot, sharing…

"Ultimately it's this very human story about a father and daughter."

Hitting theaters this November, INTERSTELLAR packs a very impressive cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Topher Grace, David Gyasi, Mackenzie Foy, Bill Irwin, Timothée Chalamet, and Matt Damon.

Here is the synopsis:

A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
