First Look – Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

I'm a big fan of Netflix's horror(ish) anthology series BLACK MIRROR. I've seen every episode thus far and I'm eagerly awaiting the upcoming fifth season with open arms. But before that, Netflix will be unleashing an all-new "episode" of the series online beginning this Friday, December 28th. The new episode is really a full-length movie called BLACK MIRROR: BANDERSNATCH and it stars Will Poulter (WE'RE THE MILLERS).

The film contains "extreme violence" and will supposedly follow:

A young programmer who makes a fantasy novel into a game. Soon, reality and virtual world are mixed and start to create confusion.

The film is reportedly – get this shit – a choose-your-own-adventure and will evidently "allow viewers to interactively dictate events using their remote control." Not only that but director David Slade (HARD CANDY) will be returning to the world of BLACK MIRROR with this film after helming the awesome black and white episode of the previous fourth season called "METALHEAD" (see trailer below).

Netflix confirmed that the film is "set in the 80's" with the plot based around a 1984 video game (see ad below) which was never released. That or, you know, the title is based on the notorious Bandersnatch boogen from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and/or the poem The Jabberwocky. Esquire also confirmed that the film will co-star Fionn Whitehead (DUNKIRK) and Asim Chaudhry (PEOPLE JUST DOING NOTHING) along with the above-mentioned Poulter. You can check all three out in a first look image above.

Whatever the hell it is, BLACK MIRROR: BANDERSNATCH will be unleashed over on Netflix THIS FRIDAY. And let it be known right here and now, that this film will NOT be connected to season 5 (yeah, right) and that the fifth season is expected in early 2019. Guess we'll know more VERY soon…
