If you’re a legit fan of the genre then you should know who Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are. The scribes are probably best known for penning most of the SAW films but they’ve also dabbled in other areas of the franchise such as those COLLECTOR flicks and the FEAST franchise, among plenty others. Now the duo seem to be stepping into the world of video game adaptations.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog Melton and Dunstan have just been tapped to adapt the hit Playstation video game GOD OF WAR for the big screen. Now there’s been talk of a GOD OF WAR flick for a while now but this is the first we’re actually seeing it move forward. I can dig it.

Universal are the ones behind this adaptation of the Sony Computer Entertainment title with Charles Roven and Alex Gartner producing via Atlas Entertainment. David Self, who wrote the inital draft for this adaptation, will executive produce.

Created by David Jaffe and Shannon Studstill and released in March 2005, the game followed the battles of the Spartan warrior Kratos, who squares off against mythological beasts including Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra in his quest to find Pandora’s Box and destroy Ares, the god of war.

So what do you guys think? Melton and Dunstan the right duo to finally bring ‘Kratos’ to the big screen? Spit some bullets below and let us know if you’re jiving with this news as we await more updates regarding GOD OF WAR.
