Halloween TV series in the works?

Next month we will finally be hit with Blumhouse's direct sequel to John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN. We couldn't be more excited to check out the finished film here at AITH as we actively try to consume any and all the Michael Myers-related entertainment we can.

And speaking of more Michael Myers stuff, today we have word via our buddies over at B-D that franchise producer Malek Akkad is still very much interested in bringing The Shape to the small screen for a HALLOWEEN: TV SERIES.

Malek Akkad:

You know, it’s something that we’ve had for a long time and I definitely want to see it done. When we started doing it… this was in development about a decade ago. At the time, I think the thought was we don’t want to cannibalize the theatrical. Let’s keep it as a theatrical event movie. If that starts flowing down, we would address TV. Nowadays, we all know, TV is pulling out ahead of theatrical in a way that surprised everybody, certainly me.

Akkad then confirmed the potential series would indeed include Michael Myers:

The one we were developing and that I still feel very strongly about, he’s involved in it. That’s really all I can say about it now. It wouldn’t look anything like your traditional Halloween movie, but he’s in there as are a lot of other characters but used in different and interesting ways. I wish I could talk more about it but it’s something we’re looking at very closely.

Personally, I think the idea of a TV series based on HALLOWEEN is only a matter of time. There are more places for a potential series to go than meets the eye. It wouldn't have to just be Michael Myers stalking and slashing every week (not that that approach would be a bad thing) but the show could delve into Loomis' past or the town of Haddonfield in general.

I'm down for HALLOWEEN: THE TV SERIES if it ever comes to fruition. How about you? How excited would you be for a TV series based on John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN? Let us know below!
