Hear the story of Hostel and Saw’s rivalry from Saw doc Game Changer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

GAME CHANGER: THE LEGACY OF SAW, now available on the iTunes releases of SAW: UNRATED and SAW: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION (good luck with that one), is a 77-minute documentary about the behind-the-scenes workings of modern horror cinema's most notorious franchise.

First, it's awesome that iTunes is getting in on the special features business, which has been supremely lacking in the digital media market. Let's hope Netflix is the next online entity to hop on that train.

Second, if the entire doc is as fun as the one minute clip they've shared, it's a must-watch for fans of the franchise. In the clip, HOSTEL director Eli Roth and SAW II-IV director Darren Lynn Bousman discuss their bloody rivalry, attempting to "outgross" each other's franchises. Check out the video below!

GAME CHANGER: THE LEGACY OF SAW digs into the guts of the successful franchise with all-new interviews with creators James Wan (director of Insidious, The Conjuring, Furious 7) and Leigh Whannell (writer of the Insidious franchise and director of the third film); plus original cast members Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Cary Elwes; and producers of the franchise, Mark Burg and Oren Koules.

Learn about the inspiration for the film from the creators of Saw; get a closer look at the infamous reverse bear trap mask with Shawnee Smith; hear from directors Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV), David Hackl (Saw V) and Kevin Greutert (Saw IV, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter); and see Eli Roth’s (Hostel) take on the “torture porn” genre. In the famous words of Jigsaw, it is time to “make your choice.” Watch or don’t watch. Choose wisely.
