You guys remember us telling you about a genre flick heading our way called THE OCCULT, right? The thing was about some religious cult and had Christian Christiansen at the helm. Personally I’m already writing this one off. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the people involved but religious cult flicks just don’t really do much for me…

But that’s not to say some of you aren’t looking forward to this bad larry! With that being said I’ve come here today to pass along the latest casting news on the project courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog. According to the site character actor Colm Meaney is the latest name to join THE OCCULT. Now you may not know Meaney by name but if you glance above I’m sure you’ll recognize him – The dude has been in a load of stuff, including AMC’s new series “Hell on Wheels.”

THE OCCULT follows a small commune on the verge of witnessing an age old prophecy, that predicts the coming of the devil’s daughter, come to fruition. As the shared eighteenth birthday of five girls approaches a sequence of murders causes panic to spread through the community making those to wonder whether the prophecy is coming true or someone is silencing those that known too much…

Meaney joins the previously cast Rufus Sewell and Anne Heche (below) in THE OCCULT, which is being produced by Mickey Liddell. No word on when LD Entertainment will get rolling on the indie thriller but you can be sure as soon as we hear any updates, you will too.
