Howden and Weaving share BTS images from the set of Guns Akimbo

Mayhem Samara Weaving Joe Lynch

The upcoming film GUNS AKIMBO has my full attention, as it's coming to us from DEATHGASM director Jason Lei Howden and stars Harry Potter himself Daniel Radcliffe along with Samara Weaving, who recently earned herself a legion of fans due to her roles in THE BABYSITTER, MAYHEM (pictured above), and Ash vs. Evil Dead. The "adrenaline-fuelled, balls-to-the-wall original action comedy" tells the story of

Miles, who spends his days in a dead-end job, pining for his beautiful ex-girlfriend Nova. His mundane existence is turned upside-down when he finds himself enrolled on a dark net website that forces complete strangers to fight in a city-wide game of death so that their gladiatorial battles can be live-streamed worldwide to a fanatical audience.

Contestants are chosen by a clandestine gang known as Schism, who handicap the weaker contestant to further stack the odds against them. Initially, Miles’ lifetime of running from his problems pays off as he manages to elude his first opponent but when Nova is kidnapped, he must finally stop running and overcome his fears to fight for the girl he loves.

Filmed in Auckland, New Zealand and Munich, Germany, GUNS AKIMBO wrapped production a couple days ago, and to mark the occasion Howden and Weaving shared a image of themselves on set with Radcliffe.

Weaving had shared a couple glimpses of her character before, and those can be seen below. Howden actually shared a picture from the set on each of the 40 days of production, giving teasing looks at sets, locations, production design, masked characters, and Weaving's eyeball. Rather than embed all of those images in this article, I'm picking some of the BTS shots I find most interesting. To see the rest, click over to Howden's Instagram.

GUNS AKIMBO was produced by Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment and Tom Hern of Four Knights Film. Philipp Kreuzer and Joerg Schulze of Maze Pictures co-produced, with Hyperion Entertainment's Michael Mailis, Electric Shadow's Jay Taylor and John Jencks, Miscellaneous Entertainment's Joe Simpson, Umedia's Adrian Politowski and Bastien Sirodot, Koch Films' Stefan Kapelari and Mortiz Peters, and Altitude Films' Will Clarke and Andy Mayson serving as executive producers. Pump Metal Films and Ingenious Media are also behind the project, which has the support of the German Federal Film Fund, the FilmFernsehfonds Bayern, and the New Zealand Film Commission.

GUNS AKIMBO is now in post-production, and we'll let you know when release plans are announced.
