Husk director Brett Simmons working on new adaptation of classic tale The Monkey’s Paw

I know you guys are familiar with the eery tale of THE MONKEY’S PAW, right? Of course you are. This classic tale originated via the 1902 short story by W.W. Jacobs and, according to Bloody-Disgusting, now has a brand new adaptation on the way!

According to the site Brett Simmons, who last directed that After Dark genre flick HUSK, will be getting behind the camera for this latest retelling of THE MONKEY’S PAW with a script by Macon Blair.

Sources explain that the modern take follows Jake Tilton who, after scoring the creepy “monkey’s paw” from a co-worker, finds his life completely flipped upside down after making a pair of wishes. (We’re told one wish resurrects his best friend Tony Cobb from the dead into a sort of unkillable zombie.) Cobb pressures Jake into using his final wish to reunite Cobb with his son, but Tony has other plans. He must outwit his psychotic friend who’s on a murder spree.

Sounds like a good time to me! Shooting on THE MONKEY’S PAW is slated to start this September in New Orleans so expect a lot more updates on this one soon.
