Images and clip from backdoor pilot for Supernatural spinoff Wayward Sisters

For the last several months, I have been endeavoring to catch up on the CW series Supernatural, which is currently in the midst of its thirteenth season. Watching my way through the early seasons, I realized I've been missing out – I love this show, and sort of wish I had been watching it since it began in 2005.

As announced back in June, The CW is now plotting a Supernatural spinoff series titled Wayward Sisters, and their plan begins with a backdoor pilot in the form of Supernatural season 13's midseason premiere, which will air this Thursday, January 18th.

I didn't know this, since I'm now watching season 6 episodes, but the season 13 midseason finale, which aired last month, ended with series stars Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) trapped in something called "The Bad Place". Their only hope for escape are the Wayward Sisters,

Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy. Under Mills’ training and protection, the women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force.

Entertainment Weekly got their hands on images from Supernatural season 13, episode 10 / the Wayward Sisters backdoor pilot, along with a clip from the episode. The CW has also released a trailer for the episode online.

I tend to be a completist, so if Wayward Sisters does go to series, I'm going to have to watch that show, too. Once I'm all caught up on Supernatural.

Rhodes's fellow Wayward Sisters are Katherine Ramdeen as Alex, Kathryn Love Newton as Claire, Brianna Buckmaster as Donna, Clark Backo as Patience, and Yadira Guevara-Prip as Kaia.
