Intense/101 acquires Banshee Chapter for UK release; frightening new stills

We've known for a while that XLrator Media had the US rights to the Zachary Quinto-produced horror thriller BANSHEE CHAPTER with a VOD release scheduled for December 12 followed by a limited theatrical release in January 2014, but now our friends across the pond can celebrate as the film has been picked up by Intense Distribution and 101 Films with plans to release it in the UK in January 2014. To celebrate we have a handful of new frightening stills to share with you below!

Blair Erickson writes and directs the film with a cast that includes Ted Levine, Katia Winter and Michael McMillian.

The story follows a young journalist who researches a strange government-manufactured chemical. The filmmakers say the story is inspired by a real secret programme run by the CIA. The film is described as centering on…

…a young, female journalist (Winter) who follows the mysterious trail of a missing friend (McMillian) that had been experimenting with mind-altering chemicals developed in secret government drug tests. Levine plays the role of a rogue counter-culture novelist with a penchant for substance abuse and firearms who leads the journalist into the mystery of dangerous chemical research. A fast-paced blend of fact and fiction, the film is based on real documents, actual test subject testimony, and uncovered secrets about covert programs run by the CIA.

The 3D film had its world premiere at Film4 FrightFest and it also screens at Toronto’s After Dark Film Festival on Oct 24.
