IT & Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard joins Ghostbusters 3

Director Ivan Reitman’s son Jason will be helming the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS 3 (or whatever they're calling it) and the movie will go back to the continuity of the first two films. And today we have word that STRANGER THINGS and STEPHEN KING'S IT star Finn Wolfhard has joined the cast.

There were rumors that Reitman didn't want to cast anyone from STRANGER THINGS, given some of the similarities between the two projects, but both he and the executives were blown away by Wolfhard's audition. GONE GIRL and FARGO season 3's Carrie Coon is also in talks to join as well.

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is said to

focus on a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.

Sources say the story will focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon playing the mom and Wolfhard playing her son. It’s currently unknown how that will connect to the new Ghostbusters team. Do you think Finn Wolfhard is a good addition to the cast? How about Coon? Let us know below!

Jason Reitman is directing this new GHOSTBUSTERS flick from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Gil Kenan (MONSTER HOUSE, POLTERGEIST) and the movie is all set to bust some ghosts on July 10, 2020. How excited are you for this new GHOSTBUSTERS movie below!
