James Wan’s House of Horror finds Xavier Gens’ replacement in Will Canon

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Way back in April Eric gave us all the horrible news that Xavier Gens would be forced to step down as director of James Wan’s upcoming HOUSE OF HORROR. Of course this came coupled with the news that the beautifully talented Maria Bello (below) was looking to join the project. So needless to say we got over Gens’ departure rather quickly.

Now, months later, the project has finally found Gens’ replacement! According to the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting director Will Canon is now in talks to take over helming duties for HOUSE OF HORROR, which comes from a script by Max La Bella. Mr. Wan will still serve as producer.

The House of Horror is a horror-thriller that centres around a gruesome crime scene. The film is shot with a blend of found footage, interrogation video, news cameras and classical cinematography. The film focuses on the aftermath of a horrific massacre; five college students, brutally murdered inside a decrepit, abandoned home.

We are thrown right into the mix as the lead Detective, Mark Lewis, and the police department’s psychologist, Dr. Elizabeth Klein, question a suspect. The young man at the center is John Ascot, bound by handcuffs in a mobile command station. During the interrogation, John explains everything leading up to the deaths of his friends.

We discover that they were amateur ghost-hunters, seeking out paranormal phenomenon at the abandoned house believed to be haunted. What started out as a harmless activity turned into something truly terrifying and more than they ever could bargain for. John explains to the police that he isn’t responsible for his friends’ deaths, but rather, it was the house. He tells them he believes the house is a gateway to hell; a place of concentrated evil.

Now I know you’re probably not familiar with Canon, and that’s alright – most people aren’t familiar with him. Me being one of them! But alas considering James Wan has his hand in this one I’d say it’s worth a look regardless of who’s directing. Mind you Canon’s involvement isn’t a done-deal yet but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

So that’s all we’ve got on HOUSE OF HORROR right now but as soon as more updates for this bad larry come our way we’ll be right here to tell you about them.
