Jaume Balaguero’s Sleep Tight finally has a U.S. release date

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

We have been writing about Jaume Balaguero’s SLEEP TIGHT since November 2009, when it was going by the title FLATMATE. This was Balaguero’s solo venture after teaming very successfully with Paco Plaza on [REC]; a notable reason to get excited for the thriller. It was released in its native Spain last October, and has hit numerous territories since then, but needless to say we’ve been waiting patiently for it to arrive on our shores. However, this Halloween, the residents of North America will finally get to snuggle up to SLEEP TIGHT.

MPI and Dark Sky Films announced that SLEEP TIGHT will be released simultaneously on VOD and in US theaters on OCTOBER 26th, a perfect Halloween snack for folks who have no interest in the theatrical competition, namely: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 and SILENT HILL: REVELATION.

The plot: Toiling silently amongst the residents of an everyday Barcelona apartment building, doorman Cesar (Luis Tosar) harbors a dark secret: his sole desire in life is to make others unhappy. When he sets his sights on Clara (Marta Etura), one of his building’s cheeriest residents, his sick need blossoms into a full-fledged obsession. Embarking on a series of private and physical violations against Clara, Cesar becomes determined to ruin her life by any means necessary. Becoming the boogeyman hiding under the bed and bringing her nightmares to life, his fascination with torment soon crosses the line into lunacy – and his thirst for others’ sadness soon becomes manically unquenchable.
