Join the clone uprising in Insurrection, Paramount’s new sci-fi epic

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

With their Star Trek franchise in full swing, Paramount Pictures is shuttling off into a different sci-fi frontier with INSURRECTION, based on the Boom! Studios comic of the same name.

The studio has set the comic’s writer, Blake Masters, to pen the screenplay for INSURRECTION, which sounds like a combination of BLADE RUNNER and THE ISLAND. Michael De Luca (GHOST RIDER, GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE) and Matt Tolmach (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) are teaming up to the produce the adaptation, which will also be produced by Boom!’s Ross Richie.

Here’s the full plot for INSURRECTION:

Enter the future where pollution, poverty, and armed conflict have been obliterated. Only off-world on the terraformed moons of distant planets does war still exist. Corporations command more power than governments and when they go to war, they use their own military force — armies composed of bio-engineered clones. For generations, these clones have not questioned why they live and die while their makers risk nothing. But now, one of their own will stand up against injustice, sparking a revolution that will change the entire galaxy, igniting INSURRECTION!

INSURRECTION debuted in January 2011. No word yet on who the studio is looking at to direct.
