Jordan Peele will write & direct a new social thriller for Universal

GET OUT director Jordan Peele has just signed a two-year first-look deal with Universal which is said to include an "untitled social thriller" that Peele will write, direct and produce.

Supposedly the new project will be a much bigger production with THR claiming Peel's new flick will sport a budget five times the size of his debut GET OUT, which carried a price tag of "just" $5 million.

To date, GET OUT has grossed $172.6 million domestically with a worldwide total of $194.5 million. As I have pointed out before, this makes GET OUT the 2nd highest-grossing R-rated horror movie of all time! Crazy, right?

Universal chairman Donna Langley on the Jordan Peele deal:

"Through extraordinary imagination and fearless humor, Jordan has proven himself to be a game-changer who is driven to tell stories that are as commercially entertaining as they are disruptive and provocative. The entire Universal family takes great pride in his incomparable filmmaking debut, and feel fortunate that this studio will be Jordan's home for many years to come."

Blah, blah, blah. F*cking suits. Anyway, the new deal also includes Peele producing a number of projects with the aim to give "a voice and opportunities to those traditionally under-represented in front and behind the camera, be it gender, race or sexual orientation."

Jordan Peele on the new deal:

"I am thrilled to continue the work we started together on Get Out — pushing the boundaries of storytelling, not only on the next film but with all of Monkeypaw’s future projects."

Monkeypaw Productions is Jordan Peele's production company if you didn't know. Now for those of you worried this means Peele has moved on and forgotten his Blumhouse brothers, no worries, as it is said Peele will continue to work with Jason Blum on micro-budget projects.

Congrats, Jordan Peele. We cannot wait to see what you come up with next!

GET OUT hits Digital HD May 9th, and Blu-ray and DVD May 23, 2017.

Extra Tidbit: Allison Williams eating cereal like a psychopath who never went to kindergarten is my favorite part of GET OUT.
