Joseph Gilgun will play Cassidy in AMC's Preacher

Joseph Gilgun Lockout

Preacher fans have to be excited to see Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult comic coming to life thanks to AMC and writing duo Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg. Just last week we learned that both Ruth Negga and Ian Colletti were set to star in the pilot as Tulip and Arseface, with word now coming in from Deadline that AMC has found their Cassidy in British actor Joseph Gilgun.

Here’s what we know about AMC’s Preacher series:

The project, from Sony TV and AMC Studios, is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

Colletti plays Eugene Root aka Arseface. Even with his horribly disfigured face and severe speech impediment, Eugene’s still the nicest kid you’ll ever meet who really looks up to Jesse. Stomach-churningly difficult to look at, Eugene’s the town’s reviled Frankenstein’s monster but that won’t change his earnest, sweet and pure outlook on life. However, he is troubled by something terrible he’s done in the past — something he fears may have turned God himself against him.

So, that’s what the cast of AMC’s Preacher looks like as of right now with a chance that Dominic Cooper—who has been in conversations for the lead, Jesse—joining them as well. Keep an eye here for more on this one as we get it!
