Kelly Masterson doing script touchups on Bong Joon-ho’s Snow Piercer

Never hurts to tighten the words given to your actors…and it looks like South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho knows it!

Variety is reporting Kelly Masterson (BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUR DEAD) is doing script rewrites on SNOW PIERCER, the chilly futuristic thriller starring Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell and Chris Evans. The script was originally penned by Joon-ho, but considering the film will mark his English language debut, it makes sense he bring in a lad more familiar with the dialect. I doubt many plot points will get changed, and that the polishing will mostly be needed in the dialogue.

Here’s the setup:

Earth is completely frozen over as a new ice age hits…The world is covered in snow and ice. The only living people, the last survivors, are onboard a leviathan train speeding along the rail tracks endlessly. But they are fighting each other…

For survival, for dominance, they are locked into a gruesome fight to the death along a linear path inside the train. From the tail end carriage reminiscent of Auschwitz, to the gold class carriages at the front, full of decadent pleasures, our protagonists must penetrate deep into the dark secrets that shroud the train…

Production on SNOW PIERCER is slated to begin this March.
