“Kids in the Hall” alum Scott Thompson set to investigate “Hannibal” for NBC

NBC’s been slowly assembling a solid international cast for its “Hannibal” long-form, with today’s addition somehow odd yet fitting…

THR has it that “Kids in the Hall” alum Scott Thompson (right) has joined “Hannibal,” set to recur as Jimmy Price, the third member of the FBI crime scene investigation team headed by Laurence Fishburne’s Jack Crawford, the head of the FBI’s behavioral science unit. Jimmy specializes in fingerprinting and spatter patterns at crime scenes.

No doubt ready to bring the laughs, I hope Thompson’s character isn’t a sad “Bones” rehash. How weak would that be?!

Also starring Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Hettienne Park, Caroline Dhavernas (below) and Aaron Abrams:

The project is described as a contemporary thriller series featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon – FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter – who are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship.
