Lara Jean Chorostecki joins “Hannibal” Season 1 as ‘Freddie Lounds’

Well it seems one of the characters from Thomas Harris’ RED DRAGON novel is undergoing a sex change folks!

According to TV Line cutie Lara Jean Chorostecki has just signed on to star in NBC’s “Hannibal.” The actress (pictured) will be playing ‘Freddie Lounds’ aka ‘Freddy Lounds,’ who was played by Stephen Lang and Philip Seymour Hoffman in MANHUNTER and RED DRAGON respectively.

The project is described as a contemporary thriller series featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon – FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter – who are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship.

‘Lounds’ is described as a sleazy tabloid reporter. Chorostecki’s ‘Freddie’ is more sophisticated in her manipulations than her male predecessors, but no less daring, making her a foil for not only Will Graham, but Hannibal Lecter and Jack Crawford, as well. Sounds like fun to me!

Chorostecki joins Laurence Fishburne, Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Caroline Dhavernas and Aaron Abrams in the series, which will have a pilot for us directed by David Slade. You can bet as soon as any other “Hannibal” news rolls our way we’ll be right here to tell you about it.
