Luke Grimes to channel Jim Morrison, Gary Clark Jr. for True Blood

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Luke Grimes must have a thing for vampires. It was only one month ago when we shared the news that the actor was set to headline the indie vamp tale MANHATTAN UNDYING (see our story HERE) and today TVLine is reporting that Grimes has joined the cast of “True Blood” for their upcoming sixth season.

TVLine reports that “True Blood” has tapped “Brothers & Sisters” alum Luke Grimes to play the recurring role of James, a circa ’70s-made vamp who is smart, spiritual and emotionally deeper than any other bloodsucker we’ve seen before. Picture a cross between Jim Morrison and Gary Clark Jr. with even more of a poet’s edge.

Grimes joins the previously announced newbies Rutger Hauer (as a mysterious figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason), “Rubicon”’s Arliss Howard (as Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell), “Friday Night Lights” star Jurnee Smollett-Bell (as do-gooder Nicole), Karolina Wydra (as Violet, a strong, sexy, possibly dangerous vamp) and “90210”’s Amelia Rose Blaire (as Howard’s onscreen daughter). Sounds like “True Blood” is really amping things up for this upcoming season!

Look for more from this bloodsucking series soon!
