Margot Robbie to lead Bad Monkeys in sci-fi thriller

Margot Robbie

Universal Pictures has acquired the film rights to Matt Ruff's 2007 sci-fi psychological thriller novel BAD MONKEYS, and is teaming with Bluegrass Films and actress Margot Robbie's company LuckyChap Entertainment to bring the story to the screen.

That story:

Jane Charlotte has been arrested for murder. She says she's a member of a secret organization devoted to fighting evil. She says she's working with the Department for the Final Disposition of Irredeemable Persons — a.k.a. "Bad Monkeys."

Her confession lands her in the jail's psychiatric wing and earns her countless hours of poking, probing, and questioning by a professional. But is Jane crazy or lying?

Or is she playing a whole different game altogether?

Robbie is attached to star in the film and will be producing it with Bluegrass Films' Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark. LuckyChap's Josey McNamara will executive produce, with Jon Mone and Nicholas Nesbitt overseeing the project for Universal and Bluegrass, respectively.

I haven't read Ruff's novel, but the story sounds interesting enough and anything with Robbie attached draws some extra attention.
