Matt Reeves' next Planet of the Apes film delayed one year

Some somber news for those of you who can't wait to see what challenges Caesar is going to face next: 20th Century Fox has decided to delay the next PLANET OF THE APES film for one year. The reasons are unspecified.

After the quick critical and commercial success of DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, Fox greenlit the follow-up, re-hired director Matt Reeves and screenwriter Mark Bomback, and gave the film a July 2016 release date. Seemed like a reasonable amount of time to get the project in order, but apparently not, as the studio has delayed the release until July 14, 2017.

While it's a bummer it'll be so long until we see Andy Serkis and the gang again, you'd rather them attempt to get it right than rush it. Truth be told, the sequel was itself a bit rushed; it's a minor miracle it turned out so well.

We'll keep you updated on the sequel's progress as more news comes in.
