Riverdale Carrie musical

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared writing credit with CARRIE 1976 screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen on the 2013 remake of the Stephen King adaptation and has gone on to craft dark re-imaginings of Archie Comics characters in The CW's murder mystery series Riverdale and the upcoming Netflix horror series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Those two sides of Aguirre-Sacasa's career are getting mashed together with tonight's episode of Riverdale, in which the characters will be performing the Carrie stage musical Cohen wrote with lyricist Dean Pitchford.

11 songs from Carrie: The Musical will be performed on the episode.

Riverdale will be staging a musical episode this spring based around Carrie: The Musical and starring the similarly rage-filled (and arson-friendly) Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) as the titular telekinetic teen.

The Riverdale High version (of the musical) will be directed by “future Tony winner” Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) and a behind-the-scenes documentary will be shot by Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse).

The cast of the stage musical will include Archie as Tommy Ross, Betty as Sue Snell, Veronica as Chris Hargensen, Reggie as Billy Nolan, Alice as Mrs. White, Judghead as The Beak, Josie as Miss Gardner, Toni as Norma, Ethel as Helen, and as mentioned above Cheryl as Carrie White.

Riverdale's Carrie musical episode will be airing on The CW at 8pm ET tonight, and music videos for two of the songs have been released online to give a preview of what viewers are in store for. Those music videos can be seen below.

I've never watched Riverdale before, but I will be watching this episode.
