Neon snags U.S. rights to Brandon Cronenberg’s sci-fi thriller Possessor

The U.S. rights to the second feature by David Cronenberg's son, Brandon Cronenberg, POSSESSOR with Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, and Sean Bean has nabbed by Neon who gave no details on U.S. theatrical release plans. Well Go USA will handle the home entertainment release.

Brandon Cronenberg says:

Neon is a hugely exciting distributor, and I’ve been eager to work with them for a while now. I’m thrilled they are taking on Possessor in collaboration with Well Go USA, who made production of the film possible.

The sci-fi thriller debuted at Sundance and also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tuppence Middleton (JUPITER ASCENDING, DOWNTON ABBEY).

It follows 

a corporate agent who uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies, driving them to commit assassinations for the benefit of the company. While she has a special gift for the work, her experiences on these jobs have caused a dramatic change in her, and in her own life, she struggles to suppress violent memories and urges. As her mental strain intensifies, she begins to lose control, and soon she finds herself trapped in the mind of a man (Christopher Abbott) whose identity threatens to obliterate her own.

Written & directed by Brandon Cronenberg it is produced by Fraser Ash, Niv Fichman, Kevin Krikst, and Andrew Starke and stars Christopher Abbott as Colin, Andrea Riseborough as Tasya Vos, and Tuppence Middleton as Ava with Jennifer Jason Leigh as Girder and Sean Bean as John Parse. The executive producer credits are shared by Gary Hamilton, Ryan Hamilton, Ying Ye, Steven Squillante, David U. Lee, Noah Segal, Adrian Love, Simon Williams, Daniel Negret, Vaishali Mistry, Dave Bishop, Tony Roman and Doris Pfardrescher.
