Netflix orders Steve Niles monster hunter series October Faction

Steve Niles October Faction

As far as I'm concerned, the 2007 cinematic adaptation of Steve Niles' graphic novel 30 DAYS OF NIGHT was one of the best horror movies to come out in the '00s. It's a shame that franchise didn't continue on in a better way, but instead of mourning the lack of awesome 30 DAYS OF NIGHT sequels we can now take a hopeful look forward to a Steve Niles series that has been ordered by Netflix.

That series is titled October Faction, and it's based on an IDW comic book series that was created by Niles. Executive produced by Niles, James Thorpe, Thomas Walden, Eric Birnberg, and showrunner Damian Kindler, the show will follow

globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff and Viv. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn’t as idyllic as it seems.

John Calvert and Mohamad El Masri are producing the show, which is a collaboration between High Park Entertainment and IDW Entertainment. George Strayton and Melissa Blake serve as co-executive producers.

Netflix has ordered a 10 episode first season of the show.

I haven't read the October Faction comic books, but they have some cool horror imagery on their covers, like that trio of ghouls in the image up above. I look forward to seeing what sort of monsters the monster hunters will be battling on Netflix.
