New images from R.I.P.D. seem familiar

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've got a handful of supposedly new images from Universal Pictures' upcoming supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. to share with you below, but I'm sure you'll feel the same sense of deja vu that I did upon seeing them. If you've seen the trailers for R.I.P.D. these images will come across being very familiar to you as they are, for the most part, nothing more than screengrabs from the footage we've already seen. But with the film scheduled to open in theaters in just a few weeks, and the fact that we haven't seen a whole lot from R.I.P.D. in terms of promotion, we'll take what we can get from the flick.

Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds headline the 3D supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.

Veteran sheriff Roy Pulsifer (Jeff Bridges) has spent his career with the legendary police force known as R.I.P.D. tracking monstrous spirits who are cleverly disguised as ordinary people. His mission? To arrest and bring to justice a special brand of criminals trying to escape final judgment by hiding among the unsuspecting on Earth. Once the wise-cracking Roy is assigned former rising-star detective Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) as his junior officer, the new partners have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork. When they uncover a plot that could end life as we know it, two of R.I.P.D.’s finest must miraculously restore the cosmic balance…or watch the tunnel to the afterlife begin sending angry souls the very wrong way.

R.I.P.D. stars Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stephanie Szostak, Robert Knepper, James Hong and Marisa Miller; it opens on July 19th.
