Red band trailer: Nicolas Pesce’s Piercing starring Mia Wasikowska

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

One of the top up-and-coming horror directors I keep a close eye on here at AITH is THE EYES OF MY MOTHER writer/director Nicolas Pesce. The man is behind the upcoming reboot of THE GRUDGE (cleverly titled GRUDGE) but before that film hits he has the crazy-ass sounding motion picture PIERCING headed our way this February. And today we have the film's new redband trailer to share with you guys!

Truthfully, I'm refusing to watch the trailer as some people who have seen the movie say that it ventures into spoiler territory and I'd just rather, you know, NOT at the moment. But by all means, don't let me stand in your way from checking out what is sure to be a bloody and squirm-inducing 3 minutes. In fact, give it a look-see and then let us know what you think! I'll be checking the movie out ASAP.

Based on a novel by Ryu Murakami (AUDITION) PIERCING drops Christopher Abbott and Mia Wasikowska into the following story:

Reed (Christopher Abbott) is going on a business trip. He kisses his wife and infant son goodbye, but in lieu of a suitcase filled with clothes, he's packed a toothbrush and a murder kit. Everything is meticulously planned: check into a hotel and kill an unsuspecting victim. Only then will he rid himself of his devious impulses and continue to be a good husband and father. But Reed gets more than he bargained for with Jackie (Mia Wasikowska), an alluring call girl who arrives at his room. First, they relax and get in the mood, but when there's an unexpected disruption, the balance of control begins to sway back and forth between the two. Is he seeing things? Who's playing whom? Before the night is over, a feverish nightmare will unfold, and Reed and Jackie will seal their bond in blood.

Also in the cast are Laia Costa, Marin Ireland, Maria Dizzia, and Wendell Pierce. Jacob Wasserman, Josh Mond, Antonio Campos, and Schuyler Weiss produced. You can check out the new trailer and poster below and then make sure to hit us up and let us know if you plan to give this flick a day in court when it lands this February. And speaking of which, Universal Pictures will release the film in theaters, On Demand, and Digital on February 1st.
