New stills from Hunger Games & Dark Shadows pop up in EW's 2012 preview issue

Just yesterday Marcey told us about Entertainment Weekly's 2012 Preview and it's coverage on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Now that's all fine and dandy but what if I want to know about some other 2012 release? (Though let's face it... compared to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES who cares?)

That's exactly why I'm here today to pass along a couple new stills from EW's 2012 Preview issue. But these aren't DARK KNIGHT shots, oh no. Instead we've got new looks at both DARK SHADOWS and THE HUNGER GAMES! Natch!

First up we've got DARK SHADOWS, which is coming at us from director Tim Burton and stars Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green, Alice Cooper, Gulliver McGrath, Bella Heathcote, Johnny Depp, Ray Shirley, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller and Michelle Pfeiffer. The rundown reads: In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas has the world at his feet¡ªor at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy¡ until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Brouchard. A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman, to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins; her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard; and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins. The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters. Peep the new shot for DARK SHADOWS, which features Depp and Pfeiffer, directly above.

Then if you scroll on down below you'll see the new still from THE HUNGER GAMES, which has Gary Ross at the helm and stars Jennifer Lawrence (below), Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Amandla Stenberg, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jacqueline Emerson, Paula Malcomson, Dayo Okeniyi, Jack Quaid, Leven Rambin, Willow Shields and Lenny Kravitz. The synopsis reads: Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

So there you have it folks! A couple more reasons to be pumped for 2012. As always we'll be keeping our eyes and ears open for more from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, DARK SHADOWS and THE HUNGER GAMES so be sure to check back regularly for any more goods that might roll our way.
